Mega Run!
Woke up with a bad head this morning! I'm such a complete light weight since I've lost weight, I only had two large glasses of red. Anyway, at least I wasn't having to get up for a workout first thing so I had a little while to chill out. Had a mug of warm water and then some muesli made with porridge oats, organic jumbo oats, quinoa flakes, ground flax, raisins, flaked almonds, half a chopped banana and some vanilla rice milk, plus a cup of green tea.
After breakie I made a big pan of soup for freezing. I used one onion, 4 small sweet potatoes and some savoy cabbage with plenty of veg stock then blended it and popped it into bags ready for the freezer. I find it so convenient to have a stash of healthy home made soups as it makes it much easier to plan for work lunches. After I made the soup I thought I'd pop to the shops before they got too busy and turned into hell on earth! I got a few bits and pieces but it looks like sainsbos is no longer stocking hazelnut and almond rice milk :-( I'll have to get the hubby to hit Holland and Barrat for me instead when he's at work bless him!
When I got back I decided to go for a mega run! I thought I would try out a different slightly longer and more hilly route (about 2.5 miles). It was brilliant, I just loved doing it and felt so good about myself afterwards! I'm now thinking about how I plan my exercise to be able to fit in gym workouts, weight training, running and yoga. I think I might have to change my rest day from a Sunday to a Friday as I can fit much more into a Sunday. Going to finish off reading Rachel Cosgroves The Female Body Breakthrough and then try and come up with a new plan so that I can fit everything in that I want to.
Speaking of books I finished reading Michael Pollans In Defense of Food last night.
I'd heard it mentioned on a few different blogs so I thought I'd give it a read. It was interesting, it basically talks you through all of the issues with the 'western diet' and how they have developed through the industrialisation of food, incorrect science etc. The main point of the book is that to beat the issues of the western diet (i.e. obesity, diabetes, cardiovasular disease etc) you should try and eat more 'real' food (unprocessed), more fruit and veg and wholegrains, eat less and consider how what you eat affects the food chain (the environment and the people and animals involved in producing the food), not rocket science at the end of the day. Its definitely worth a read if your into that kind of thing and its not a long book either. Going to lend it to some friends who are into this stuff as well and see what they think.
When I got back from my run I had a slice of stoneground wholemeal toast topped with peanut butter and half a banana plus a chopped apple.
I'm trying to be mega organised this weekend so when I made the salad I chopped up extra carrot, cucumber and red onion and put them in plastic containers in the fridge for the salads I plan to have during the week. For a little desert I had some sweetened coconut slices.
Drinks - water, green tea, decaf tea
How has everyone's weekend been? I've been trying not to think about going back to work tomorrow. That 6 am start is going to be a total killer! Luckily I haven't got a lot on tomorrow but my to do list is huge, I can see me putting in a few extra hours this week. Nevermind, I have the rest of this evening to enjoy so going to go and try and make the most of it! xxx

After cooking up a big pot of chilli for freezing I had a snack of some green grapes with a mini baby bell light.
And then a little bit later I had a cup of decaf tea with a fudge baby. I shared another one with my Mam who had called round, she liked it but she's not as fussed on the taste of dark chocolate as I am!
For dinner I made an edam cheese omlette with 2 eggs and 1 egg white and a huge pile of salad including spinach, red onion, red pepper, cucumber and carrot.
