Re stocking my wardrobe

One of the things that I love about the week between Christmas and New Years is the sales! I don’t know why they bother calling them the January sales as most shops seem to start them in early December in some cases! Going to Newcastle the day after Boxing Day is a tradition for me as in previous years James has been working in the shopping centre so it always made sense to take him to work early and hit the shops before they got too busy.

I had some vouchers and spending money from James and my Parents as part of my Christmas gifts so it was great to be able to go out with a reasonable budget! I had a few things in mind that I wanted, other than that I was happy to treat myself to a couple of impulse buys:

P1110963 Rose print jacket – Warehouse reduced from £45 to £20

P1110950

P1110960

Parka Coat with fur trimmed hood: Miss Selfridge, reduced from £85 to £40, Black midi length skirt with chevron pattern: Warehouse, reduced from £35 to £20

P1110951 Beaded sweater: Urban Outfitters, £22 reduced from £48

P1110955

P1110957

Navy floral tea dress: Warehouse, £48 reduced to £25, Maroon floral printed tea dress: Urban Outfitters £48 reduced to £25

P1110965Cream chunky wool cardigan: Topshop £42 reduced to £20

P1110970Unicorn Mug: Urban Outfitters £5, Gold peacock feather necklace: Topshop, Gold star pendant: Warehouse £3, Fox costume ring: Topshop, pink skull bracelet: Urban Outfitters, sparkle black bracelet: Urban Outfitters

P1110969 Selection of stripy tops: all Topshop, flat brown knee high boots: New Look, £59 reduced to £25

I also got some unpictured skinny black trousers from Oasis for just £10 and a new lamp shade for our bedroom from Urban Outfitters (to finally finish it off!) The Urban Outfitters store has just opened in Newcastle which is wonderful and about time!

I was really chuffed with what I got, a lot of stuff was better than half price! The parka jacket, boots and black trousers were all on my wish list but the other stuff were more impulse buys.

I think I’m finally starting to ‘get’ what my style is – I love stripy tops, floral dresses, chunky knit ware and gold jewellery so I can never really go wrong with those. I used to avoid anything with stripes like the plague as I thought they were unflattering. Now I love them and they are a staple in my wardrobe!

Have you been sales shopping? Did you find any good bargains? What items of clothing are staples in your wardrobe?
